All Bairds Windows products are manufactured to exacting quality standards, in a controlled environment and it is the responsibility of the installer to ensure the product is fit for the intended use, and has been properly transported, stored, installed, adjusted, used and maintained.

Bairds Windows Ltd ("Vendor") undertakes with the Purchaser that in any event the Purchaser proves to the satisfaction of the Vendor that any component part of the product's) supplied is defective as to material or workmanship the Vendor will at its discretion repair or replace the same, or with suitable alternative, free of charge to the Purchaser.

This undertaking only applies to defects notified to the Vendor within: 10 years (PVC-u), 10 years (White door panels), 5 years (Coloured door panels) one year (hardware excluding furniture surface finish), Double glazed units and glass – the vendor warrants that the glass will comply with the standard visual quality standards.** The vendor warrants that seal on double glazed units will be free from failure (failure is taken to mean failure of the insulated glass resulting in penetration of moisture on the glass inside the airspace) for a period on ten years from delivery. If a failure occurs in the first five years the vendor will be responsible for the supply and fitting of the replacement glass units. If failure occurs in the second five years then the vendor is limited to supplying the units only; from the date of invoice of the products and does not apply in the following circumstances:

a) where the defect is due to normal wear and tear or misuse of the whole or any part of the products;

b) when the product was stored and installed in whole or in part other than by the Vendor or the Vendor’s properly authorised agent or sub-contractor, to standards as set by Vendor and good practise of installation;

c) where any repairs to or maintenance of the products has been carried out other than by the Vendors properly authorised agent or sub-contractor, to standards as set by the Vendor and good practice of installation;

d) the Guarantee/Warranty excludes glass breakage, damage or faults due to accident, misuse or negligence;

e) where the Purchaser fails to give written notice of the defect to the Vendor within 7 days of delivery/installation;

f) Vendor installed replacement parts or products shall be supplied and fitted free of charge: however, the Company’s liability in respect of replacement parts or products supplied under the terms of its Guarantee/Warranty shall not continue beyond the date of the expiry of the Guarantee/Warranty given on the original parts/products;

g) in the event of a component or part failing on products/items supplied only which are due to defects caused by manufacturing, materials or workmanship, our liability is restricted to the supply only of a replacement product/part or providing a factory authorised repair to the returned product. No liability is accepted for any charges for installation, painting or storage or any other consequential costs.

h) the benefits of this document are not available to the Purchaser until all monies payable by the Purchaser to the Vendor are paid in full.

This Guarantee/Warranty is transferable; it is given in addition to and in no way substitutes other conditions and warranties implied by law and include consequential damage and faults due to accident or neglect by the Company's servants provided the Company is notified within seven days.

Glass visual quality standards

Clear and Flat:- It is important to check your glass before any rendering, plastering or other works adjacent to the glass takes place and as early as reasonably practical. Standing 2 meters away (3mtrs for toughened, laminated and coated glass) or as far as you can if 2 meters is not possible, look directly through the glass not at it in natural light but not direct sunlight with no visible moisture on the surface of the glass at a 90° Angle to the window. It is acceptable to see bubbles/ blisters, fine scratches not more than 25mm long or minute particles providing they are neither obtrusive nor bunched; smears, finger prints, material, dirt are not acceptable. Toughened glass due to the process of toughening may show some visual distortions this will not affect the window performance and Laminated glass is made up of several layers so may have a few more blemished than clear flat glass. Low emissivity coating can in some conditions look like the glass is hazed or cloudy this is normal.

Patterned glass is manufactured differently so the above does not apply.

Condensation

Internal condensation is caused due to high humidity levels with in the house this is caused by breathing, cooking, washing up, bathrooms, laundry, wet out door clothing, heaters, indoor plants and the drying out period of a new build.

External condensation this is caused by the glass being energy efficient and keeping the heat in with the outer pane being colder than the dew point outside it will dissipate quickly as the temperature rises.

Condensation in between the two panes of glass means that the seal around the double glazed unit has failed and needs to be replaced.

NOTE

Reported defects: we will send out our Fabricator as soon as possible on agreement with our customer. The following costs will be incurred if the product has been poorly fitted by others or badly/maintained which will be £25.00 per hour from the time of leaving the factory to returning to the factory. If a product has been fitted correctly and just needs a slight adjustment there will be no charge. We would advise all products especially doors must be plumb, level, straight and square; frames must not be over screwed or distorted with the proper cover used and fitted consistently at 8mm for the lock and keeps to work.

DO NOT remove any of the CE/Qmark labels as these identify your item and it may incur a charge or invalidate your warranty if you do.

PVC-u Maintenance Recommendations

PVC-u frames and furniture should be cleaned at periodic intervals to maintain their original appearance. The frequency depends upon the geographical location and or the ambient atmosphere but as a general rule the frames and furniture should be cleaned whenever the glass is cleaned. The best method of cleaning is to use a clean cloth and a solution of detergent, diluted to the normal concentration for washing-up. If the surface is excessively dirty please ask for advice. If any unsightly stains remain, then a mild household non-scouring cream should be applied to remove the stains. Abrasive materials should not be used for any cleaning purpose because of scratching the surface. Especially avoid the use of steel wool pads, as these might cause permanent stains, this includes the furniture as some cleaners will cause pitting of the surface finish and this is not covered by the warranty. All mechanisms should be checked for wear, cleaned and oiled with light oil fit for purpose at least bi-annually or quarterly in coastal areas.
